Weekend Scenes

We usually spend Memorial Day weekend on Nantucket, but this year we had Red Sox tickets for Saturday evening so we decided to stay on the mainland!

Saturday started with a 7 mile run and a few errands, then we were off to see the Sox with some friends.

Sunday started with another run and by taking Rowan for an impromptu visit to a pediatric urgent care to check out a suspicious bug bite reaction.  After an antibiotic prescription and a blood order she was on the road to recovery and we got on the road to Newport, Rhode Island for the day!  Apparently everyone else had the exact same idea, it was crowded!

One of our first stops was RE-SAILS.  While sail bags are nothing new, they had some great merchandise including the sail cloth sling back chairs below with pillows attached!
These "paddle" cheese boards were so cute!
How about a sail cloth tie?
We also made a stop into Newport Fudgery, it's a balance with the kids.
They opted for Tollhouse and Salted Caramel fudge to go...
I've been a Lemon & Line fan since the beginning so we had to stop at their flagship store!
Look at all that cord!
The big kids each got a bracelet and modeled them in Lemon & Line's cute space!
After a few more fun stops we headed to 22 Bowen's for dinner.  This is a family favorite, we often eat here while in Newport.
Their 22 Doli (housemade pineapple infused vodka) is a must.  Mr. PS tried the very manly Blueberry Lemonade...
The kids started with chowder and Mr. PS and I split the Lobster & Corn Fritters, it was a generous portion!
I ordered the scallops with roasted beets, parsnips, butternut squash and greens with a blood orange vinaigrette...delicious!
22 Bowen's has their own pastry chef so dessert is a real treat!  The Coconut-Key Lime Torte with Coconut-Lime Sorbet was light, tangy and tasty!
Riley's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Torte with Bourbon-Vanilla Ice Cream was so dense and decadent that he couldn't finish it, luckily others jumped in to help!
Reagan's Dark Chocolate Budino was perfectly presented!
Mr. PS had a dessert special that had a lot going on.  It involved a chocolate almond tart topped with strawberries, chocolate ice cream and an orange cream anglaise...I think?
We started Monday with the big kids participating in our local Memorial Day parade, we spectated!
Riley marched with his Boy Scout troop...
Reagan "danced" with her Irish Step school down Main Street...
The parade concluded with a ceremony on one of the town's commons...
We enjoyed lunch and ice cream out before heading home to relax for the rest of the day!  I'll be back tomorrow to share the scoop on our ice cream adventure!
