Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Monday from Nantucket, it's hard to believe that we've been here for almost two weeks!  Mr. PS headed back to America last night so I'm running the show for the week solo.

We kicked off the weekend on Friday which was fairly rainy.  We took advantage and got some things done around the house and ran some errands before landing in town to pick up the big kids from work and activities.  More specifically we landed at Nantucket Prime for a cocktail...
 Rowan loved their patio gardens!
We made our way home where we dove into some Callie's Pimento Cheese from Charleston!  We were beyond excited to find it at the new Nantucket Meat and Fish Market.
Saturday morning, Mr. PS and I made our way to the Milestone Cranberry Bog for the Nantucket Conservation Foundation's annual Race for Open Space.
Mr. PS took part in the 2 mile walk...
while I lined up for the 5K run.
This has been a road race in the past, this was the first year that it was held in the bog as a trail run.  My time wasn't too far off my usual 5K time, but I'm really not a fan of trail running.  Too many ruts, rocks and in this case, soft sand!
I loved the color of this year's t-shirts sponsored by Castaway Clothing!
We hit the Farmers & Artisans Market downtown before heading to the beach for the day.  It runs from 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturdays from May-October on Cambridge Street.
It was a bit foggy to start, but it ended up being a beautiful day.  Mr. PS brought along this find to the beach...
That evening we enjoyed dinner at the Ship's Inn on Fair Street.  I cannot say enough good things about the food and service at this quiet and quaint gem!  This was our second time eating here, you can read about our first visit here.
After dinner we took a walk down Straight Wharf...
it's always fun to check out all of the boats and yachts!!
Sunday morning I took off on my bike towards Sconset and then back around to Surfside Beach before coming home.
While I cycled Mr. PS snuck out to Wicked Island Bakery, well known for their sinful "Morning Bun". Sadly they were already out, so the family had to settle for some muffins and donuts...
We were off to the beach just before lunch, it was gorgeous!
Lots of boogie boarding!
A little after 4:00, we packed up and we brought Mr. PS to the airport last night to catch a flight home to Boston.
The kids grabbed some burritos at Boat House (think Chipotle) for dinner.
I hit a Sculpt and Weights class early this morning (I'll be sore tomorrow) at Nantucket Cycling & Fitness and then it was off to Stop & Shop to provision for the week.  Here's what's cooking...

Tuesday- Soup & Grilled Cheese (after golf)
Friday- Take-out Pizza & Salad
Saturday- Mixed Grill
Sunday- out

How was your weekend?  Did you hit the beach?

  2. Thanks, Kathleen...the t-shirt was a Father's Day gift, I may have been slightly mortified when he wore it out of the house, but he has received many compliments and laughs :)

We love the beach at night too, haven't done a beach picnic dinner yet and need to plan one!
