Seeking Scallop Shells

When the forecast calls for rain, you have to get creative on Nantucket.  Rowan and I set out on a scallop shell seeking adventure at Brant Point yesterday in anticipation of today's rain.  Scallop season runs from October through March here so scallop shells are plentiful especially near the Brant Point Shellfish Hatchery.
Perfection!

So many shells!

Lots of shells = rainy day fun!

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Wishing I could freeze time lately, we're all enjoying island life so much it will be hard to leave in a month. The weeks are going fast, Wednesday is our midpoint and I still feel like we just arrived.

We welcomed Mr. PS home Friday evening with a peach and blueberry crisp a la mode!
I headed out for an early run on Saturday before it got too hot.  I got the crock pot going and we were off to the beach!  We ended up staying until 5pm since dinner would be ready to go!

Sunday we enjoyed so more beach time at a family favorite, Madequecham.
Sunday evening we met some friends for drinks at the Breeze at The Nantucket Hotel.
Then we headed to Le Languedoc Bistro for dinner.  This is one of my favorite restaurants on island.  The food and service are fabulous!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend too!  I'm off to Bartlett's Farm and Stop & Shop in a bit to stock up for the week.  Here's what's cooking...

Monday- Tortellini with Pesto and Roasted Veggies
Tuesday- Homemade Pizza & Salad
Wednesday- Shrimp Stir-fry
Thursday- Pineapple Chicken Wraps
Friday- out @Straight Wharf Restaurant
Saturday- Spicy Sausage Rigatoni
Sunday- out @Lola Burger

runDisney Prep

In just a little over a month we'll be on our way back to California for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend!  This is my first and most likely only runDisney event.  Registration opened back in February and of course a trip to SoCal seemed like a brilliant idea at the time!  That was before we purchased a new home, spent a week in San Fran and the summer on Nantucket.  So as you might imagine this little jaunt has Mr. PS rolling his eyes!

I'll be competing in the Dumbo Double Dare which consists of the Disneyland 10K on Saturday, September 3rd and the Half Marathon on Sunday, September 4th.

I'm not really into running in a tutu so I have toned down "costumes" if you can even call them that.  Here's what I'm wearing for the 10K...

And for the half marathon...

While costumes are cute, comfort is key so I think these will fit the bill!  And Disney just revealed the half marathon medal yesterday...
We'll of course spending time at both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park and we'll be staying at the Disneyland Hotel.  This will be my fourth time to Disneyland, but first time spending more than one day there so any suggestions and/or recommendations are appreciated!

Giving it a Tri

I always get a little anxious at the start of a race.  Doesn't matter if it's a half marathon or a 5K, starting line jitters are normal for me.  As soon as I start a race I'm fine and truthfully the nervous energy probably helps me get going so I really can't complain!

Tomorrow I will participate in the Nantucket Triathlon and I suspect my anxiety will be at an all time high. This will be my third sprint triathlon, but it's been a while.  I competed in the Danskin/SheRox series in 2009 and 2010 in Webster, Massachusetts.

While I'm no stranger to running and cycling, swimming is not my strength nor are the transitions.  However, sometimes you have go beyond your comfort zone and just give it a tri!

I will be swimming .33 mile at Jetties Beach, cycling 13.4 miles from Jetties to Madaket (western end) and back, and finally running 3.4 miles from Jetties to Brant Point, up to Cliff Road around Lincoln Circle and back to the finish at Jetties.

Looking forward to picking up my race packet later today and racking my bike.  Also going to work on setting up my transition area tonight!  Assuming I survive, I'll be back with a report tomorrow!

Happy Friday!
