New House Decor

I can't lie, I'm slightly overwhelmed by this house.  The space, the style, it's a blank canvas other than some paint colors that we plan to keep.  I have list for each room of what's going in there and what we need.  The need list is more like a wish list and will be prioritized since we're really taking leap with this house.

Here are a few things we have in mind for the kitchen/family room area...
Dorchester Counter Stools from Ballard Designs under right side of peninsula.
Messina Dining Room Table with four LeMans Dining Chairs in Rubbed Gray and a Dorchester 3-Seat Bench in Rubbed Gray in the kitchen nook.
For the family room space, I'm envisioning a light gray tufted sofa facing the fireplace and possibly a love seat along the right wall with an accent chair in the far left corner near the window.  We have french doors to the deck on the left so we need some clearance there.  This room will get a lot of love so I need to carefully choose colors and fabrics that can withstand high traffic.
Lots of options here, especially in this space since our current living room furniture will most likely head to the finished basement!  Any advice or suggestions?

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Easter Monday, hope the Bunny was good to you!  The Bunny went light here at Chez PS since I'm trying to be budget conscience...
"Ooh, I think this is for me."
After a low key Easter morning, we were off to meet my parents at noon Mass...
We had a 1:30 brunch reservation at the TPC Boston, they always do a great job!
The Bunny made a special appearance!
My children have been enjoying egg hunts compliments of my parents since Riley could walk!  This year they brought the eggs with them and the big kids and I snuck out and hid them outside the Clubhouse for Rowan to find...
The golden eggs have a special treat inside!
Beautiful day, lots of fun!  Now onto another busy week, here's what's cooking...

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

I will start by apologizing for the over abundance of weekend photos!  We had an amazing 39 hour stay in NYC, yup that was it.  We pulled in a little after 9:00pm Friday night and left at 12:00pm today!

We stayed on the upper east side at Affinia Gardens which worked well for us in both location and size.  I would say it was a bit more practical than luxurious, but for a quick trip it hit the mark.

We were up and out bright and early on Saturday morning.  We cruised down the street a couple of blocks to hit Alice's Tea Cup for breakfast.  Reagan and I had visited Alice's once before on a 2010 girls' trip to NYC.

Rowan got to wear some fairy wings while she was there...
The vegetarian omelet with asparagus and pears was delicious!
 Apparently so were the crepes!
Rowan had one of Alice's famous scones!
After breakfast we went way downtown to the Metropolitan Pavilion to pick-up my bib.
It was very well organized!
The weather was nice so we decided to walk back up toward mid-town.  We couldn't help but notice Macy's beautiful spring windows in Herald Square!
We made it all the way up to Times Square, our destination for the afternoon!
Since we were going to see The Lion King matinee I thought it was appropriate to hit a Broadway favorite for lunch!  Sardi's has been around since 1927!
Did the waiter knew I was carb loading?  We had about 15 rolls in that basket!

I enjoyed a special shrimp and crabmeat chopped salad with an orange vinaigrette.  It was perfection!
We split Sardi's Boccone Dolce made with meringue, strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate.  Oh yum!
After lunch we were off to see The Lion King at the Minskoff Theater.  It was truly amazing!  It's not an inexpensive ticket, but definitely well worth your time and money.  Rowan was mesmerized by the show, sitting for over 2 hours!
We heading back uptown after the show, had a few minutes to relax and get ready for dinner!  We love to eat, but Saturday seemed like a total food fest!  We walked a few blocks from the hotel and enjoyed dinner at cozy Tiella.  Everything was delicious, especially the desserts!  I had this pistachio cake...
Riley had the ricotta cake...
The rest of the crew split two chocolate mousse cakes...
Sunday morning was a bit chilly, but thankfully no precipitation as previously forecasted.  Runners had to enter Central Park at 5th and 6th Streets where there were metal detectors waiting.  After a leisurely warm-up jog, I made it to my corral with just about 5 minutes to spare and we were off!
We ran the first 6 miles in the park and then down 7th avenue into Times Square.  We took a rich onto 42nd Street and then headed down the West Side Highway.
 The Freedom Tower...
 The Brooklyn Bridge...
 Finish line in sight!
 New bling!
Recovery bags, this race was so well organized!
I would love to run this race again if I could get a number through the lottery system again.  I love the destination race, but one needs to be considerate of the time and travel expense.  We had a great weekend, but we're also a busy family that doesn't always have an entire weekend to devote to mom's running "career"!

So back to reality, we hit the grocery store as soon as we got home yesterday with an impending snowstorm!  Here's what's cooking this week...

Monday- Spiral Slice Ham, Pineapple Casserole & Roasted Spring Vegetables
Tuesday- Leftovers
Wednesday- Spaghetti, Meatballs & Salad
Thursday- Meatball Subs & Salad
Friday- Homemade Spinach & Ricotta Stuffed Shells
Saturday- TBD
Sunday- Easter lunch at the TPC

How was your weekend?
