King Cakes...make it or fake it!

With Mardi Gras just over a week away I started thinking about this year's celebration.  In years past I've made or at least attempted to make a King Cake.  Last year's mini King Cakes...
This year I decided to order the real deal!

Planning San Fran

The PS crew is excited be heading west to San Francisco this spring for our school vacation week!

This will be my fifth trip to California and the big kids' second time.  We hit southern California with them in April of 2010.  I've only been to San Francisco once before, with my parents in 1982.  We saw quite a bit so I have a general sense of the city, but would love some specific suggestions!

We have our lodging set and we have tickets to see the Oakland A's and the San Fransisco Giants.  It worked out that both teams have home games while we're there.  We also have our Alcatraz tickets, can't skip that!

I've ordered a map of the wine country.  With the kids in tow, we can't do too much there, but we'd love to hit a couple of wineries.

We're also hoping to head just north of the city to Muir Woods and take a ride south to Monterey.

So what else should we plan to do and see?  And most importantly where should we eat??

Menu Monday

Patriots nation is feeling a bit deflated this morning after yesterday's loss to the Broncos.  There's sort of an expectation that they're going to win and when they don't the fans take it hard.  It sort of puts a damper on the Super Bowl fun around here, I think we'll be routing for the Panthers on February 7th!
We know that while the rest of the country may not love the Patriots as much as we do here in New England, the Patriots organization is really a great one!  They do so much for the local communities here they are truly loved on and off the field!

Moving on, we've got basketball and science fair this week so trying my best to keep order and deliver some healthy meals!   Here's what's cooking this week...

Monday- Spiced Butternut Squash and Lentil Soup
Tuesday- Pasta Spinach Bake
Wednesday- out
Thursday- White Bean Chicken Chili (add veggies)
Friday- Beef Enchiladas (add veggies)
Saturday- out
Sunday- Stromboli & Salad

Are you happy with the Broncos/ Panthers Super Bowl match up?

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!  We woke up to a couple of inches of snow which looks quite pretty!

First, here's a peek at this week's menu...

Monday- Baked Potato Soup
Tuesday- Spinach Lasagna
Wednesday- leftovers
Thursday- Thai Turkey and Green Bean Rice Bowls
Friday- Chicken Ropa Vieja
Saturday- Guys @Bruins, Girls' Night In
Sunday- School Fundraiser @Bertucci's

Somehow our three day weekend has flown by!  It included watching two basketball games...
Some Rhode Island pizza smuggled over the border...
The New England Auto Show in Boston...
We had a ton of fun checking out all of the cars, especially this Lamborghini Aventador...
We learned that Rowan likes to be in the driver's seat...
and Mr. PS should NOT buy a SMART car!
 Family selfie in the Denali...
 A Rolls-Royce Wraith...
A delivery van...
A pace car for the 2016 Boston Marathon...
I had to sit in the Mustang, my first car...
Finally, we discovered that the Prius trunk has enough room for one 5'10" Riley!  Unfortunately it doesn't fit our party of five very comfortably.
After clocking almost 3 miles around the Auto Show, we hit a nearby Rosa Mexicano for dinner.  I'm always skeptical of chain restaurants, but this was excellent!
Hope you're enjoying a three day weekend too!

Crewcuts Sale Picks

J. Crew's sale section is well stocked after the holiday season for both adults and kids!  Crewcuts always ships for free so I often find myself browsing and picking up great deals for Rowan.  I noticed some adorable items that I may just grab in a larger size for the 2016 holiday season, of course there are several things that would be great for the remaining winter months here too!  All of these items are an extra 40% off with code GETSHOPPING through 1/17.

Happy Saturday!
