Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Monday!  Everyone is off to school and I'm finally getting a chance to sit and breathe...ahhh!  What a weekend!  We packed a lot in, I really don't think we could have done anymore!

Mr. PS took the day off on Friday to help prepare for Rowan's birthday party on Saturday.  We also took a quick ride to Duxbury, MA to pick up our Pete's Fresh Fish Prints tuna tail that we purchased on Nantucket this summer.  Mr. PS hung it up as soon as we got it home on Friday and I think we both agree that it works perfectly in our kitchen dining space!
I hit spin class early on Saturday morning and Mr. PS took Reagan to her field hockey game...victory!
Party prep was in full swing by mid-morning...
Once our guests left, we relaxed and Rowan opened her gifts...the mermaid tail blanket is a hit!!  Then we all went to bed by 8:30pm!
Reagan and I were up and on the road to Providence, RI at 8:00pm for The Color Run.
 Before the race...
 During the race...
The finish...
 Love me some race bling!
 After the race...
In case you're not colorful enough, let's give everyone packets of color and douse each other!!
After the additional color dust storm...
Sunglasses and a towel for the car were key accessories, keep your mouth closed in the color zone and one hot shower should take care of the rest!  Good times!

After my shower and a quick lunch, Mr. PS and I took Rowan to Ward's Berry Farm in Sharon, MA to meet up with her classmates for a pumpkin picking hayride!  The weather was pure fall perfection!
We enjoyed some leftovers for dinner last night and called it a weekend!  I'm off to the market later this morning and here's what's cooking this week...

Monday- Butternut Squash & Kale Gnocchi
Tuesday- Tacos, Mexi Rice & Romaine Salad
Wednesday- Quesadillas w/ leftovers
Thursday- Homemade Pizza & Salad
Friday- Red Sox
Saturday- Buffalo Chicken Chili
Sunday- out

Four!

Somehow this little pumpkin turned four yesterday!  She was just a few days old when I nestled her in this basket for a fall photo shoot!
I grabbed some balloons while she was at school to go with her Under the Sea theme!
I also baked her a chocolate cake with Twizzlers, as requested!
After attending her sister's field hockey game, we went out for dinner and came home for cake...
 and presents!
A personalized t-shirt to wear for her party on Saturday...
 Bling2o mermaid swim goggles...
and a new bike made for a very happy 4 year old!
Happy Birthday Rowan Frances!

House Update...Basement Progress

Since arriving home from Nantucket almost a month ago, I've been working hard on house organization and continuing the decorating process.  One area that I've been struggling with is the finished basement.  I knew that I did not want it to be a dumping ground for toys and old furniture, but yet we weren't looking to invest money in the space so I had to work with what we had.
We ended up dividing the large room into three spaces...an entertainment space where the kids can play with the Wii or watch TV.
 A workout area...
and a workspace for the kids.
It's definitely still a work in progress.  I'm debating on creating a gallery wall, but I don't want the space to become too cluttered!  Any advice?

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Monday, hope you enjoyed the last weekend of summer 2016!  While I'm sad to see it go, I do enjoy the colors and flavors of fall!

Birthday preparations are in full swing for Rowan's Under the Sea party next Saturday.  Supplies have been gathered, I have assembled the goody bags and painted treasure chests for the kids to decorate and fill!
Saturday evening we celebrated Riley's birthday (again) at Olivadi in Norwood.
I started with a watermelon and arugula salad with citrus vinaigrette.
I then enjoyed a pistachio and horseradish encrusted salmon with roasted beets and steamed asparagus. Everyone's entrees were delicious!
Reagan had the cheesecake for dessert.
I couldn't resist the blueberry tart with vanilla gelato!
The birthday boy barely finished his panna cotta, I may have helped with the last bite!
After an early barre class, we hit Volante Farms in Needham for lunch and fresh produce.
We weren't sure if the weather was going to hold for apple picking so we grabbed some at Volante's.
 It all looked so good!
When we returned home, I had to make my first pie of the season.  I like to use a variety of apples, I used fujis and honey crisps for this one.  Thumbs up all around for this one!
Despite a busy week (curriculum night, a birthday and two field hockey games), we're going to attempt to sit down to dinner as a family!  Here's what's cooking...

Monday- Alphabet Minestrone & Rustic Cheese Panini
Tuesday- leftovers
Wednesday- Pizza & Salad
Thursday- Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Sausage over Rigatoni, Peppers & Onions
Friday- Turkey Spanakopita Burgers over Greek Salad
Saturday- party leftovers
Sunday- TBD

What's cooking at your home?  I could definitely use some suggestions, feel like I'm in a menu rut lately!
