The week in photos...

This was Riley's last week of seventh grade in uniform.  Not sure where the school year went, but next Wednesday is his last final and he's out for summer!  Did I mention that he doesn't go back until September 14th??
My girl and me ready to do some errands...she looks all cute and sweet, but trust me she's plotting against me!
Reading books in the waiting room during her brother's annual well visit.
Art show and spring concert at Reagan's school.
Quick afternoon pick me up, been running every morning at 5:30!
Celebratory cake for after Reagan's spring concert performance.
Rowan loving her Tea Collection dress from her May Citrus Lane box.
A little Friday afternoon treat for the big kids, Jurassic Smash Blizzard (deadly!) and Brownie Cookie Dough Blizzard...
Enjoy your weekend!

What's the Scoop Wednesday

We visited Bubbling Brook for lunch and ice cream on Memorial Day.  We've been there before and we even included it in a "What's the Scoop" back in 2009, but it's worth revisiting!

Bubbling Brook has been in operation since 1951 and draws a crowd from far and wide with their location on Route 109 in Westwood, Massachusetts.  They have a small eat-in dining room that serves sandwiches, fried seafood and other casual fare, but most come for their ice cream!
Their soft serve is so popular that it has its own service window...
I prefer the hard serve.  Bubbling Brook offers two sizes, small and a very generous large!  Sundaes are also available in two sizes, junior and regular.  Unfortunately, no one wanted to try the Brook Buster with me!
Riley ordered the Peanut Butter Oreo which was a peanut butter base with chunks of Oreo.  Mr. PS went with the Chocolate Peanut Butter which had a chocolate base, a ripple of peanut butter and chocolate chunks.  I ordered my usual Black Raspberry Chip yogurt which was very creamy, but could have had a few more chocolate chunks!
Reagan and Rowan enjoyed the soft serve!
There are lots of picnic tables out back near the bubbling brook to sit and enjoy your ice cream!
We'll be scouting out some new homemade ice cream destinations in the coming weeks, I'm so lucky to have willing participants!

Weekend Scenes

We usually spend Memorial Day weekend on Nantucket, but this year we had Red Sox tickets for Saturday evening so we decided to stay on the mainland!

Saturday started with a 7 mile run and a few errands, then we were off to see the Sox with some friends.

Sunday started with another run and by taking Rowan for an impromptu visit to a pediatric urgent care to check out a suspicious bug bite reaction.  After an antibiotic prescription and a blood order she was on the road to recovery and we got on the road to Newport, Rhode Island for the day!  Apparently everyone else had the exact same idea, it was crowded!

One of our first stops was RE-SAILS.  While sail bags are nothing new, they had some great merchandise including the sail cloth sling back chairs below with pillows attached!
These "paddle" cheese boards were so cute!
How about a sail cloth tie?
We also made a stop into Newport Fudgery, it's a balance with the kids.
They opted for Tollhouse and Salted Caramel fudge to go...
I've been a Lemon & Line fan since the beginning so we had to stop at their flagship store!
Look at all that cord!
The big kids each got a bracelet and modeled them in Lemon & Line's cute space!
After a few more fun stops we headed to 22 Bowen's for dinner.  This is a family favorite, we often eat here while in Newport.
Their 22 Doli (housemade pineapple infused vodka) is a must.  Mr. PS tried the very manly Blueberry Lemonade...
The kids started with chowder and Mr. PS and I split the Lobster & Corn Fritters, it was a generous portion!
I ordered the scallops with roasted beets, parsnips, butternut squash and greens with a blood orange vinaigrette...delicious!
22 Bowen's has their own pastry chef so dessert is a real treat!  The Coconut-Key Lime Torte with Coconut-Lime Sorbet was light, tangy and tasty!
Riley's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Torte with Bourbon-Vanilla Ice Cream was so dense and decadent that he couldn't finish it, luckily others jumped in to help!
Reagan's Dark Chocolate Budino was perfectly presented!
Mr. PS had a dessert special that had a lot going on.  It involved a chocolate almond tart topped with strawberries, chocolate ice cream and an orange cream anglaise...I think?
We started Monday with the big kids participating in our local Memorial Day parade, we spectated!
Riley marched with his Boy Scout troop...
Reagan "danced" with her Irish Step school down Main Street...
The parade concluded with a ceremony on one of the town's commons...
We enjoyed lunch and ice cream out before heading home to relax for the rest of the day!  I'll be back tomorrow to share the scoop on our ice cream adventure!

City Year Boston Starry Starry Night

Last night Mr. PS and I attended City Year Boston's Starry Starry Night at the Boston Convention Center. Traffic was awful so I was excited to see Mr. PS waiting for me with a glass of Prosecco!  I wore a Lilly Brielle Dress in Ottoman Stripe with my Lilly Cross Town Clutch and gold sandals which you can't see :)
As you entered the room, there was a teacher "Appreciation Station" sponsored by Staples where you could put together a gift bag for a Boston teacher!
We jumped right in and grabbed a tote to fill...
Pencils, glue sticks, tissues, erasers, notebooks and even some sweet treats were creatively displayed and ready to be added to the totes!
There were over 700 people in attendance last night, the tables and chairs were white which popped against the black background of the convention center.
The evening started with the Corps members welcoming us, 256 Corps members serve the Boston Public Schools.  As you may recall, we attended the Providence event two weeks ago.  We love the work that City Year does, the energy and enthusiasm at these events is contagious!
A 9th grade student shared his experience working with a City Year Corps member...
CNN's John King, a Dorchester native, was the featured speaker...
While it wasn't really a "date night", it's always fun to get dressed and go out!
And of course my favorite part of the evening, the sundae bar...
Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

We picked up KanJam at Sports Authority just before Mother's Day and we're glad we did because it made for a fun outdoor activity at our Mother's Day Brunch!  The original retails for $39.95, but there are lots of varieties.  We'll be packing ours up and bringing to Nantucket for sure!
Check out the collection of Graphic Buoy Bottle Openers at MW Coastal Goods and while you're there check out all their other fun stuff, lots of ideas!

I gave Mr. PS a Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Speaker for Christmas and we all love it!  Nordstrom has it 10% off right now with free shipping!
The L.L. Bean Personal Organizer Toiletry Bag comes in four sizes from small to family sized and lots of colors.  Add a monogram and you've got a very personal gift!  L.L. Bean always offers free shipping and right now is offering 10% off through Tuesday with the code SUMMER.
