Dressing for Disney

Running two races definitely ups the packing game, especially when they're runDisney events!  These ensembles have been in the works for a while.  I posted about them a few weeks ago here.

Ready to go for the 10K on Saturday...
and for the half marathon on Sunday...
Of course I had to pull together my outfits for the parks too!
I'm looking forward to the creative costumes and photos ops along the route.  This will be my 10th half marathon and most likely my last.  Sadly my knees and feet can't take the distance running anymore.  I'm hoping to continue running 5Ks and 10Ks though!

Follow me on Instagram this weekend for some race weekend fun!

Disneyland Prep

I decided to register for the runDisney Dumbo Double Dare at Disneyland back in February.  I really wanted to try a runDisney event and since I had the half marathon fever, this seemed like the perfect opportunity!

It's been six years since our last trip to Disneyland (we spent a day there) so I've done quite a bit of research to put together this Labor Day weekend Disneyland itinerary...

Life Lately

We arrived home last Wednesday evening and as much as I love island life, it's so good to be home!  I feel refreshed and renewed, ready to tackle more house projects and a new school year...I think!

Here's a peek at our last days on nantucket and what we've been up to since returning home...

Dinner at Station 21 with friends, K&R...
The Wizard of Oz at the Dreamland...
Rainbow Fleet parade...
Soaking up the last beach days of the summer...
Pool time...
Homeward bound...
Hilliard's ice cream makes returning to the mainland a little easier...
Red Sox with Mom & Dad...
Pizza from Frank Pepe in Chestnut Hill...
And in true "never a dull moment" fashion, we're packing up for one last hurrah later this week!  Stay tuned for that fun!

Smoothie Time

As much as I love food, sometimes I crave a smoothie for breakfast especially after a workout or after an indulgent evening out!  I always add a scoop of Vega One Natural so I know that I'm getting a complete meal.  I prefer the Natural flavor so that I can customize my smoothies, but there are other flavors too!  Berry, Chocolate, Vanilla Chai and French Vanilla are also all delicious!

Starting with a cup of ice and a scoop of Vega One, some of my favorite combos are...

1 banana + 1 cup coffee + 1/2 cup almond milk

2 cups watermelon chunks + 1.5 cups water

1 banana + 1/2 cup blueberries + 1 cup water + 1/2 cup almond milk

1 banana  + 1/2 cup strawberries + 1 cup water + 1/2 cup almond milk

1 apple, chopped + 2 tbsp almond butter + 1tsp cinnamon + 1 cup water + 1/2 cup almond milk

The possibilities are endless!  I have also used kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, carrots and pineapple. You can really use whatever you have in your fridge!

I use a Vitamix blender to make my smoothies which works really well if you're going to add vegetables, oats or nuts.  If you're just using fruit, a basic blender should get the job done!

Are you a smoothie fan?  Do you have any favorite combos?

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

It's Monday again and I'm sad to say that we're winding down here!  Mr. PS arrived on island Friday night and is officially on vacation with us until our August 24th departure.
It's been unusually hot and humid here so the beach was a must on Saturday.
I'm loving my new turkish towel from The Preppy Stitch, it's been my constant beach companion!
After the beach, we showered and got ready for dinner at Galley Beach...
Galley is known for their beach dining and amazing sunset views...
Looking toward the Cliffside Beach Club...
It quickly turned into a foggy night for the Boston Pops on Nantucket at Jetties Beach.  That didn't stop all of the boats from dropping anchor to enjoy the concert and fireworks from the water...
We finally sat for dinner at 8:30 at a cozy table for two.
I started with a salad with roasted beets, jericho lettuce, grapefruit, sunflower seeds, manchego and a togarashi-rice wine dressing.
Mr. PS started with the lobster bisque!
I had locally caught seared tuna over wild rice and bok choy...
Mr. PS thoroughly enjoyed his filet mignon, fingerling potatoes, kale and carrots with wagyu butter!
For dessert, I had to have the blueberry buttermilk cake with a yogurt and berry sauce!
Mr. PS continued with his indulgent evening selecting the creme brûlée!  We had a fabulous meal and excellent service, but that Galley Beach view comes with a steep price tag so be prepared!
Sunday morning I decided to push myself a bit and cycle to Sconset (eastern end of island) and then to Madaket (western end) and back home for a total of 33 miles!
We hit the beach on Sunday afternoon to escape the heat and humidity!
Sunday evening was opening night for Reagan and her fellow Wizard of Oz cast mates!  We're looking forward to seeing the production on Saturday night!
So as we wind down here, I'm trying to use up what's left in the refrigerator and cabinets.  Here's what's cooking this week...

Monday- Vegetable Lasagna
Tuesday- Wagyu Burgers, Beans & Corn
Wednesday- out @Breeze/Cast Party
Thursday- Grilled Chicken Caesars
Friday- out @Station 21
Saturday- Pizza & Salad
Sunday- out @Toppers

Have a wonderful week!
