Menu Monday and Back to School!

It was back to school for Reagan today, starting 6th grade!  She had a great first day and we're looking forward to a wonderful year!  Much like her older brother, she's hoping to make a change and be accepted to a private 7-12 school for next year so she's very focused on doing well this year!

Our weekend flew by, the whole family pitched in at Rowan's Montessori school for a maintenance day.  We hit our favorite local Mexican restaurant for a back to school dinner.  We also did some new car shopping after our island ride became somewhat unreliable this summer...as in two ferry trips to Hyannis for service! So we're going to do some shuffling and send my current car to Nantucket in October and we'll pick up a new SUV tomorrow!

Hope your week is off to a good start, here's what's cooking at Chez PS...

Monday- out at Red Sox
Tuesday- Stuffed Pepper Casserole
Wednesday- Pea and Pancetta Risotto
Thursday- Chicken Pesto Farfalle
Friday- out
Saturday- TBD
Sunday- family barbecue

Topping off the summer...

For the second year in a row we topped off our Nantucket summer with an amazing dinner at Topper's at The Wauwinet.  The Wauwinet is a small inn located on the narrow strip of land on the eastern end of the island as you head north toward Great Point Lighthouse.

They have a lovely dining room, but we prefer to dine on their deck with the kids.  They also have a beautiful lawn where you can enjoy lunch or cocktails before dinner.
 Cheers to a wonderful summer!
Fresh Breads including Homemade Brown Bread
Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata with Micro Greens
 Hand-rolled Cavatelli Parmesan
 Steak Frites
Striped Bass special with Roasted Cauliflower and Swiss Chard
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich with Old Bay Fries
Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Coconut Ice Cream
 Rocky Road Torte
 Brown Butter Plum Tart
"Mojito" Lime Mousse, Rum Soaked Cake and Mint Ice Cream

So good and as usual we had wonderful service!  Already looking forward to next year's visit!

Lilly After Party Sale

First and foremost I was thrilled to see how well this sale ran compared to past sales.  As far as I could tell the site didn't crash!  I got on to the site at 8:00.31am and was informed that there were 11,000+ users ahead of me in the virtual line and that my estimated wait time was an hour.  I quickly moved to the Lilly Pulitzer app on my iPhone and shopped away there without any wait time.

Here's what I grabbed...
Cruiser Button Down in White Red Right Return (love this print, I have the phone case)
Christie V-neck T-shirt Dress in Bay Blue Tusk In Sun
Short Sleeve Polo in Hotty Pink to go with a pair of Buttercup Shorts

For Reagan...
Cathy Shift Dress in Bay Blue Tusk In Sun
Michelle V-neck T-Shirt in Capri Pink
Buttercup Shorts in Multi All Nighter

For Rowan...I'm always grabbing stuff on sale for her so I really held back here.
Mini Maria Stripe Sweater

Did you shop the sale and what did you grab?

Catching up!

Tick, tick, tick...our time on Nantucket is quickly coming to an end and we're trying to pack it all in!  Mr. PS arrived on island last Friday to spend the last ten days with us.  We'll be packing up this summer party on Monday and shipping back to America.

Here's what we've been up to...

Riley wrapped up a week of sailing with Nantucket Community Sailing, he's already looking forward to doing it again next year!
We went out to dinner at Dune Friday evening with some friends visiting from Chicago.  We hadn't been there in a few years, but we were glad we returned!  The food and service were excellent!
We enjoyed cocktails at the outside bar and then sat outside for dinner.
Saturday was a relaxed beach day, I had started the crock pot that morning so we ended up staying at the beach until 5 o'clock!  Sunday brought the Rainbow Fleet Parade which is the unofficial start to the Opera House Cup, the end of Nantucket Race Week.
Sunday afternoon we hit the Shrek, Jr. matinee at the Dreamland Theater.  Reagan started rehearsals in early July and they started a six run show last Wednesday!
We hit the beach on Monday and Tuesday, Reagan was digging in the sand and scored herself a pair of Ray-Bans!  She thought it was glass and didn't want to touch it at first.  We grabbed a bucket of salt water and gave them a good cleaning...turns out they're Aviator Camouflage Sunglasses that will set you back $175! Perfect fit, not bad for an eleven year old!
Last night was Reagan's last performance and cast party so while she was at the show we had dinner at The Breeze at the Nantucket Hotel where the cast party was being held.
We finished dinner and dished up pizza and cake for the hungry cast!

I didn't bother with a weekly menu this week since we're really out and about trying to pack it all in to the last few days.  The weather is looking good so beach and biking are on the top of the list!

Hope you're having a wonderful week!  I'll be back with my Lilly sale picks tomorrow, but if you missed the After Party Sale there are still plenty of items available at 6pm.com and Lilly will be on Ruelala.com at 3pm today!

Rumor has it that Monday is the day for the twice yearly Lilly clearance sale at lillypulitzer.com

Be patient with this one, the site usually experiences technical difficulties when the sale goes live!

What's Cooking Wednesday

Watermelon, Arugula, Cucumber & Feta Salad
Without a doubt, this is my go-to summer lunch of 2015!  I've always been a fan of this combo, but I've become obsessed with it ever since receiving a watermelon, cucumbers and a bag of arugula in our weekly CSA.

So simple, fresh and easy.  Perfect to pack for the beach or pool!  No exact measurements needed with this one, I add roasted chick peas for a little extra texture and staying power.  You can also add cherry or grape tomatoes, seeds, nuts...whatever works for you!

Ingredients

Diced Watermelon
Arugula
Sliced Cucumbers
Sliced Red Onion
Roasted Chick Peas
Feta Cheese
Balsamic Dressing

Enjoy!

Menu Monday and Weekend Scenes

Happy Monday, hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Ours was filled with fun family time...celebrating my birthday!

We picked up Mr. PS at the ferry Friday afternoon and headed to Nobadeer Beach for a dinner picnic...we're always thrilled to be reunited!
I went for a run on Saturday morning and then we hit Miacomet Beach for the day.  It was beautiful, but on the cooler side so Reagan and enjoyed some beach reading!
We grilled at home Saturday night and celebrated my "birthday eve" with a blackberry pie from Bartlett's Farm...a la mode of course!
I went for my usual Sunday morning bike ride and opened some cards and gifts after breakfast.  I'm loving my new Lilly agenda and hand painted wine glass!  The weather wasn't great yesterday so I used a good portion of the afternoon getting my agenda set up.
We celebrated my birthday Sunday evening with dinner at Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant.
A quick throwback to my birthday in 2010..
 The guys started with chowder...
 I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail...
Reagan had the chowder and tomato salad as her entree...
 Riley had the swordfish...
I love their lobster salad, technically an appetizer, but a generous portion in my opinion!
There may have been some chocolate cake to follow, but the evidence was destroyed before I could  photograph it!

We got Mr. PS off to the ferry this morning, Riley started a week of sailing and Reagan's in a production of Shrek, Jr. that starts this week!  Here's what we have planned for meals...

Monday- Tomato, Zucchini and Squash Ricotta Bake
Tuesday- Shrimp and Vegetable Stir-fry
Wednesday- Soup & Sandwiches
Thursday- Make Your Own Pizza & Salad
Friday- out at Dune
Saturday- Crock Pot Chicken Taco Chili
Sunday- out at Languedoc Bistro

What's cooking at your home?
