Disney's Grand Floridian Resort

We returned from our Disney World adventure last night, it was a quick Easter getaway.  We stayed at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa because it was on the monorail line and we wanted to make the most out of our few days in the parks.

I recall when this Victorian era hotel opened in the late eighties, but this was my first stay there.  I've previously stayed at the Beach Club Resort, Port Orleans Resort-French Quarter and the Wilderness Lodge.

The buildings and grounds are beautiful and well maintained.  On my early morning jaunts to the fitness center I would see the grounds crew washing down the pathways everyday!

Our room was in Boca Chica, one of the five buildings beyond the main building.  There's also a Vacation Club Villas building.  Rooms were recently renovated, they were nicely appointed, but we weren't really wowed by them.

The Grand Floridian is home to several restaurants, Victoria & Albert's, Citricos, Narcoossee's, 1900 Park Fare and the Grand Floridian Cafe.  Mr. PS and I ate at Victoria & Alberts's in 1997 and we ate at Narcoossee's with the kids in 2008, we tried the Grand Floridian Cafe on this trip.

 The guys started with the soup du jour which was a potato corn chowder.

 The big kids both enjoyed the chargrilled NY strip steak, roasted potatoes and broccolini.

I had a special, miso rubbed salmon over haricots verts and a lemon citrus rice.  Sadly I did not photograph Mr. PS's orecchiette pasta with chicken, prosciutto, peas and asiago sauce.

 I did photograph the dessert sampler though!

I'm not sure if we would stay here again.  While it was convenient to the monorail, the resort was very spread out and the rooms were rather ordinary as was the pool area.  Looking back, I think the Wilderness Lodge is my favorite thus far.
