Nantucket Restaurant Rundown

I put this list together earlier this summer for two families who will be visiting the island soon and thought I would share it.  This is by no means a complete list of restaurants, but rather ones that we are comfortable recommending.

Very casual, bring the kids...

Fusaro's (mid-island, Old South Road, no reservations)
Millie’s (in Madaket, west end of island, no reservations, great for sunset, indoor and outdoor seating)
The Jetties (at Jetties Beach, all outdoor seating, mostly covered, no reservations)
The Brotherhood of Thieves (Broad Street, just up the street from Steamship ferry, no reservations)

Rose & Crown (South Water Street, pub fare)
Kitty Murtagh’s (Irish Pub, no reservations)
Beachside Bistro (at Summer House in Sconset, east end of island)

Crosswinds (at the airport, watch the planes land and take-off)

Nice, but kid-friendly...

Atlas BBQ & Fish House (mid-island, Pleasant Street)

The Breeze at the Nantucket Hotel (just up Easton Street from Brant Point)
Brant Point Grill (at White Elephant)

Centre Street Bistro (Centre Street, BYOB)
Queequeg's & Town (back to back, same owner, great for outdoor dining, brunch daily)
Fifty-Six Union (Union Street, edge of town, back patio great for kids)

Island Kitchen (Chin's Way, mid-island)
Slip 14 (Old South Wharf)
Ventuno (Federal Street in town)
SeaGrille (mid-island, Sparks Avenue near Stop & Shop)

Great for date night without kids…

American Seasons (Centre Street, recently changed chef/ownership, on OpenTable)

The Proprietors (India Street, on OpenTable)
Dune (Broad Street, on OpenTable)
Languedoc Bistro (Broad Street, Sunday brunch)
Boarding House (Federal Street, great patio, on OpenTable, weekend brunch)
The Pearl (one my favorites, Federal Street)
Galley Beach (at Cliffside Beach Club)
Cru (end of Straight Wharf, on OpenTable, serves lunch)
LoLa 41 (South Beach Street, near Children’s Beach, great sushi)
Toppers (at The Wauwinet, beautiful deck, on OpenTable, weekend brunch)
Ships Inn (Fair Street in town, hidden gem, on OpenTable)
Chanticleer (in Sconset, a classic, serves lunch)
The Club Car (old school, classic, Main Street, light lunch in bar)
Straight Wharf Restaurant (on Straight Wharf, bar seating area and patio have a lighter more affordable menu)
Oran Mor (South Beach Street, on OpenTable)

Have you tried any of these?  Any other recommendations?
