Mario Batali's Babbo

Babbo, Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's latest restaurant is located in the Seaport area of Boston.  They certainly picked the right spot to open up this past April, the place is hopping!  There were lots of couples, families with kids and a few large groups.  Babbo clearly has a wide appeal.
Babbo has three marble bars for dining, antipasti (seen here)...
A cocktail bar and a bar surrounding their brick pizza oven.
We had previewed the menu which covers both lunch and dinner and knew pizza would be our focus, but there are so many dishes to try! All very reasonably priced, the menu seems to encourage trying and sharing a few plates.  The flip side of the menu contains an extensive wine list.
We put together an antipasti with Prosciutto di Parma, Salumi Salami, Babbo Ricotta, Provolone and Marzolino to start.  We also ordered the Tomato & Arugula salad.
The service was excellent, we weren't rushed at all and we were delighted to have a nice break before the pizzas arrived.  We tried the Margherita, Quattro Formaggi, Meatball and Bagna Cauda (like Italian Wedding Soup in pizza form).  They were delicious, we took about four pieces home.
Of course we had to have dessert!  The big kids both ordered the Black & White for dessert...milk chocolate chip gelato, creme fraiche gelato,  hazelnut croccante, chocolate sauce and caramel crema.
I ordered the Baba al Limoncello, a torta Napoletana with Limoncello, fior di latte gelato and crema al limone...a whole lot of lemony goodness!
Mr. PS had the Strawberry Tartufo...strawberry gelato, chocolate ganache, Prosecco, with crumbled orange semolina cake.
Babbo is a great casual spot for lunch or dinner whether it be date night or a family meal.  We would love to return to try a few more dishes!
